Justine was an integral member of the Class of 2003. Graduating in the top 10% of her class, Justine was part of the Rhode Island Honor Society, the National Honor Society, and also the Spanish Honor Society. When Justine wasn’t busy excelling in the classroom, she was making waves on the soccer field, basketball court, and track. Playing varsity all four years for each sport, Justine was a natural born leader for Ponaganset athletics.
Nicknamed Batman her freshman year, Justine proved to be a great sidekick to her teammates on the soccer field. She earned the team Sportsmanship award her sophomore and junior years. Justine was named MVP her senior year while she led the team as captain.
During the winter season, Justine was a member of the girls’ basketball team. She accumulated awards and honors for her speed and shooting skills on the court. Justine made the All Division Team and All Class Team her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was named Scholastic Athlete of the Week and the Gatorade Will to Win Athlete as a junior. Justine made Ponaganset history her senior year when she became the 14th Chieftain ever to score over 1,000 points (1,080); her name is proudly listed under the 1,000 Point Club banner in the fieldhouse at PHS. Additionally, as a senior Justine was Captain, team MVP, and was also nominated to the McDonald’s All American Basketball Team.
Justine was an allstar sprinter for the Outdoor Track and Field team. She received the Outstanding Freshman Award for her performances in earning 3rd Team All Division in both the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints. As a sophomore she repeated her victory in making 3rd team All Division in the 100 meter sprint. As a member of the 4x100 team, Justine and her teammates made 2nd Team All Division her Junior year. As a senior, and captain of the team, Justine earned 2nd Team All Division in the 100 meter and 3rd Team All Division in the 200 meter sprints. Justine was also named the Most Valuable Player for the Chieftains.
Justine was honored with one of the most prestigious awards presented from PHS. Along with classmate (and previously inducted Hall of Famer Eric Martel), Justine was named the female Brian Fell Scholarship Award winner for being the top female athlete in her class for her academic accomplishments, leadership, community service, and character.
Justine attended the University of Rhode Island and played basketball for the Rams. She majored in Kinesiology and graduated with high distinction. She also received her Masters Degree in Physical Education from West Virginia University. Justine currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Barrington High School. Justine has kept her presence in athletics as she has coached both outdoor track and field and basketball. Justine was the Assistant Girls Varsity Basketball Coach for Barrington High from 2009 - 2021.
Justine now lives in Barrington, Rhode Island with her husband Stephen and their three children: stepson Jackson, George, and Luella.
